Many years ago, Clarence Staley and his two sons efficient preventive auto care in Greenville, Texas. As a result, the first E-Z Oil Change & Lube was opened at 3829 Wesley St. in December 1984. As the business grew, the Staley’s opened a new location at 5309 Wesley in 1988. With two locations it became easier to ensure that people’s cars were receiving the attention they deserved.
Since this time, E-Z Oil Change & Lube has continued to grow along with Greenville. They have expanded their services beyond oil changes and in 1996 they opened E-Z Touch Car Care Center right next door to their 3829 Wesley location. Now they were able to offer minor mechanical services and truly became a complete one stop shop for all auto care needs. E-Z Touch Car Care attributes so many years of business to the loyal customers in Greenville, Caddo Mills, and Hunt County and to the philosophy they set in place over 34 years ago. They set out to be the premier automotive preventative maintenance center by providing honest, friendly, unbeatable service, and by performing all jobs with an attitude of integrity that instills trust and respect from all customers.
Meet Gary Powell, the newest mechanic at E-Z Touch Car Care. After serving in the Navy, Gary started his career working at an auto parts store. He was inspired by his grandfather who was a mechanic. Gary’s father, a carpenter, suffered a back injury at the young age of 48, which convinced Gary to stay out of the carpentry field and stick to the automotive industry.
Since 1996, he’s honed his expertise in brakes, front ends, electrical work, A/C, and drivability. He particularly enjoys working on Chevys and Fords because it is easy to get most of the necessary parts and the style has been relatively the same for years.
According to Gary, the best part of his job is seeing happy repeat customers. He feels a lot of enjoyment when someone picks up their car and is able to safely and comfortably drive away. That is how you know you’ve done your job well.
There have been a lot of changes to the automotive industry over the years, but the biggest change he's noticed is the shift toward electric systems and computer modules. Gary believes there aren't many old-school mechanics left, as many today just replace parts. His advice for aspiring mechanics? Stay focused on what you’re doing, and don't let the job get to you.
At E-Z Touch Car Care, we take pride in the team of skilled mechanics who work tirelessly to keep your vehicles running smoothly. One of those dedicated individuals is Brian Moser, whose passion for cars and commitment to customer service make him a key member of our crew. Here’s a look at Brian’s journey and his expertise in the automotive world.
Brian's love for cars started at an early age. He recalls always being fascinated by how things worked, especially mechanical systems. “I’ve always liked tinkering with machines,” Brian says. His interest turned into a profession when he decided to turn his hobby into a career. It wasn’t long before he realized that the automotive industry was where he truly belonged. For Brian, becoming a mechanic was inspired by the desire to understand the intricacies of vehicles and help people solve problems they couldn't fix themselves. “There’s something rewarding about taking something broken and making it work again,” he shares. That sense of accomplishment is what drives him day in and day out.
With years of experience under his belt, Brian has developed a broad range of skills, but his expertise lies in steering, suspension, and brake systems. “Suspension systems have become such an integral part of modern vehicles, and I find those repairs both challenging and satisfying,” Brian explains. When it comes to vehicles, Brian enjoys working on trucks and SUVs. In his day-to-day work, Brian relies heavily on diagnostic tools and modern technology to get to the root of any issues. “Having the right tools makes all the difference. It allows you to pinpoint the problem quickly and accurately.”
For Brian, no two days are the same in the shop. “One day you’re doing routine maintenance like oil changes, and the next, you’re diagnosing a peculiar noise or brake and safety issue.” he says. While the diversity in tasks keeps things interesting, he admits that some jobs can be tough—especially when there’s no obvious solution in sight.
The most challenging part of being a mechanic, according to Brian, is troubleshooting complex problems. “Sometimes, the problem isn’t what it seems, and it takes time and patience to get it right.” But the most rewarding part? “Seeing a customer drive away happy, knowing you’ve fixed their problem.”
Brian recalls one particularly tricky job involving a vehicle that wouldn’t start, despite everything seeming in perfect order. After several hours of diagnostics, he discovered a hidden wiring issue that was preventing the vehicle from starting. “It was one of those ‘Aha!’ moments,” he laughs.
When it comes to explaining complex repairs to customers, Brian believes in keeping things simple. “I try to explain things in a way they’ll understand. A lot of people aren’t familiar with car mechanics, so it’s important not to overwhelm them with jargon.” He also prides himself on excellent customer service, often going above and beyond to ensure the customer leaves satisfied. “There was one instance where I stayed late just to finish a repair so a customer could have their car in time for a road trip.”
In his years in the industry, Brian has seen many changes, particularly in how technology has shaped automotive repair. “Cars are more computerized now, and that’s changed the way we approach repairs,” he says. Looking to the future, Brian believes that mechanics will need to stay up to date with ever-evolving vehicle technology. “With electric and hybrid vehicles becoming more common, the industry is definitely headed in an interesting direction.”
When Brian isn’t working on cars, he enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly fishing hunting, and teaching martial arts at his very own dojo, Lone Star Martial Arts Center in Greenville, Texas (check them out at https://lsmac.weebly.com/). “It’s a great way to relax and take a break from the daily grind,” he says. As for his favorite type of work to do in the shop is an alignment. “It is a very specific type of art that takes years of experience and practice to achieve.” Next time you bring your vehicle to E-Z Touch Car Care, you can trust that it’s in the capable hands of Brian Moser—a mechanic who is not only skilled but passionate about what he does.
